Why should we talk about menstruation in hushed tones? Let's break the menstruation taboo. #WomenOnTheMove
Why should we talk about menstruation in hushed tones? Let’s break the menstruation taboo. #WomenOnTheMove
Getting a stain on her clothes is every menstruating girl’s and woman’s worst nightmare. A phenomenon that is as common as breathing air is dealt with utter contempt and disdain; so much so that even if we come across the word ‘menstruation’, it makes people cringe.
It is stifling to see that even in the 21st century, women around the world, are still struggling to overcome these ignorant attitudes and prejudices that surround this natural phenomenon that each and every female species on this planet has to go through.
Last week, we had our weekly #Womenonthemove chat over at Twitter, and this is what we discussed.
(If you’re not yet following Women’s Web on Twitter, do now, and you can come over for the chat too, every Wednesday 6-7PM IST).
