Nidarshana Gowani Brings Us Pillars Of Humanity To Connect & Showcase The Work Of Marginalized Communities

There’s no doubt that inclusion of marginalized people and communities, and taking up their issues, cannot just be the work of a select few - it is a cause that requires each one of us to do our bit.

Pillars of Humanity, a recent initiative by Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust, witnessed leading Bollywood stars like Aditya Roy Kapur, Neelam Kothari, Anissa Malhotra Jain, Armaan Jain, Aayush Sharma, Krystle Dsouza, Sujoy Mukherjee and Supriya Mukherjee and many more. The chief guest for the event was the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

Pillars of Humanity is an initiative by Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust and conceptualized by the trustee Nidarshana Gowani. Nidarshana Gowani is a leading real estate entrepreneur, social activist and philanthropist who has been working for the welfare of society.

Pillars of Humanity was held at St. Regis in Mumbai on 25th September, in an effort to provide different communities an opportunity to come together and walk for humanity.

Nidarshana Gowani: The need for bridges across communities

Nidarshana Gowani is a leading real estate entrepreneur, social activist and philanthropist. She has been honoured as one among the Top 50 Most Influential Indians  across the world by Elite Magazine.

Through her trust, Nidarshana Gowani has been instrumental in the construction and operations of various Schools, Colleges, Temples and Dharamshala which provide educational and spiritual upliftment for millions of Indians.

Keen to empower women, Nidarshana Gowani works through various programs to empower the transgender community, acid attack victims, widows of the army officers and women from the tribal areas. During the pandemic, her primary focus was on providing vaccines to the elderly.

Pillars of Humanity had walks presented by different communities such as transgender people, cancer patients, old age home residents, acid attack victims, sex workers and tribal women. Each of the walks for a social cause had leading entrepreneurs walking with them indicating the unity in the society.

During each walk the community stood united, displayed solidarity and added vibrant colors to the event.  A few of the entrepreneurs who walked at the show were Naina Parekh, Nisha Jamwal, Shweta Wardhan, Ajita Italiya, Smriti Sinha, Saanya Mulaani, and many more.

What was clear from the presence of people from so many walks of life coming together was the need for more conversations with people outside of one’s own narrow boundaries. The support of the enthusiastic audience for each walk added to this conviction.

The walk for humanity was supported by other well known women across industries such as  Shaina NC, Manju Lodha, Sumita Sinha and others who extended their support to the community.

We need more such events filled with positive energy, passing on a strong message to the world at large that we are in it together and can do better when we unite.
