Women’s Web is saying Goodbye! Please make sure you read this important notification.
A poem which talks about varied labels and the process of constantly reinventing oneself.
You,
a good girl,
a rebellious one,
studious,
free spirit,
Labels , different identities
given by society, parents, teachers and friends.
Are they right or wrong
I don’t know.
The stranger within!
How do they claim to know me,
When I am not sure what to typify myself as?
I love to read
and argue.
Chatter, reflect and rebel.
But, sometimes traditional
dress up in the classic black dress,
and the gentle pastels,
I am all those labels
and none of them!
I may be more-
which I don’t yet know.
A new experience,
A new place,
A new person,
Makes me search within
for a new me.
Constantly growing,
Adding new adjectives,
Discarding some.
Darling, whatever is your present label-
Married , Unmarried, Separated, Divorced
Working mom, or stay-at-home mom,
Be proud of yourself!
These labels don’t limit you.
Allow yourself to grow,
What matters-
is the stranger within.
