Women’s Web is saying Goodbye! Please make sure you read this important notification.
Dad I am not a coward, I am a child of this soil. I will happily give my life for the sake of my flag. But if war can be stopped, why not give it a try?
Dad I heard that war kills
So, I want to kill this war
I want you to tell me how.
Dad last night, I saw a war movie
It left me scared to hell
I don’t know much of war
But it filled me with fear
Rustling leaves, wounded soldiers
Massive destruction, loss and horror
Veterans dying, to sleep forever
Bombs, bullets and searchlights
Planes crashing on the site
Corpses lying bare on the ground
Countries charged with war
Things spinning out of control.
So, dad if war is something that kills
I want to kill this war.
Dad you know Suzy’s father has been killed by this very war
Adam’s dad is in confinement and his fate is still unsure
Mom told me war is hell, but confinement is even worse
For only the fortunate ones come back home
And they are changed from what they once were.
So, I want to kill this war.
Dad, we may win this war but what about the losses?
What did Suzy and Adam do?
They are children of heaven
Why make them children of war?
Living with the pain of death and separation
Struggling each day with a riot of emotions
War may get over one day
But will their scars ever heal away?
Young soldiers sacrificing for the nation could be a matter of pride
Egos of statesman and countrymen may get smothered for a while
But what about the soldiers dying on the cusp of youth?
Women and children left mourning with damages large.
So dad if war is something that kills
Dad I am not a coward,
I am a child of this soil,
I will happily give my life for the sake of my flag
But if war can be stopped, why not give it a try?
Religion or state can’t challenge our sanity
You taught me nothing is above humanity
Dad I refuse to let war consume my mind
For I am still not out of my mind
Dad forgive me for my words
I am just scared of seeing things getting worse
I am sorry for being a little selfish
For wanting the war to stop
For I have nightmares of you getting shot
I don’t want to live with a story of your valour
I want to rejoice in your company today and forever.
I want to kill this war
You are not a coward, my son
You want peace to outshine
You can feel others’ pain
Making my heart swell with pride
Having a wise child like you
Is half the battle won!
In case I am not back
I know, you will forgive me my son!
