CBFC Says Title ‘Mental Hai Kya’ Insensitive, Balaji Films Tweaks It To ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’

Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut film Mental Hai Kya will now be Judgementall Hai Kya, after the CBFC called it out for insensitivity

Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut film Mental Hai Kya will now be Judgemental Hai Kya, after the CBFC called it out for insensitivity.

The name of a movie is its face, and it will be an issue if the name of the movie gives out a negative connotation that hurts the feelings of the general public!

In the recent past, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India has tweaked names of many movies including ‘Padmavat’ which had both positive and negative reactions from all over the country.

Now it’s the turn of the Kangana Ranaut – Rajkummar Rao movie ‘Mental Hai Kya’. There was some noise over this since the poster released some time ago. Now the movie is back in the limelight regarding the title change as directed by the CBFC.

Director Prakash Kovelamudi claims that the movie is a genuine outcry against the social stigma that surrounds the mentally challenged, but the title was indeed insensitive. The Indian Psychiatrist Society had also came up with an objection with regard to the title and poster of the film as making fun of a serious illness.

A spokesperson for the film from Balaji Telefilms has already confirmed that Mental Hai Kya is will be renamed as Judgemental Hai Kya.
