Mummies and worries: When a woman becomes a mother, why does she start worrying?
With the birth of every child – a mother is born, and so is worry! I can’t help but wonder why worry enters a woman’s life from the moment she discovers that she is going to be her mother.
No matter who she is No matter what she does No matter how old she is No matter how mature she is No matter how intelligent she is No matter how much knowledge she has No matter how analytical and logical she is No matter which part of the world she lives in No matter what her religious affiliations are No matter what culture she belongs to Mummies and Worries go hand-in-hand! First, she worries about whether she is ready to be a mother Then she worries about how she’ll turn out as a mother Then she worries if she’s doing it right during her pregnancy Then she worries about her children’s upbringing Then she worries if she’s doing a good job of raising her kids Then she worries about her children’s education Then she worries if her children are safe Then she worries about her children’s friends Then she worries about her children’s health Then she worries about her children’s development Then she worries about her children’s interests Then she worries about her children’s priorities Then she worries about her children’s habits Then she worries about her children’s ways Then she worries about her children’s security Then she worries about her children’s dreams Then she worries about her children’s battles Then she worries about her children’s anxieties Then she worries about her children’s failures Then she worries about her children’s tears Then she worries about her children’s preferences Then she worries about her children’s ideas Then she worries about her children’s beliefs Then she worries about her children’s future Then she worries about her children’s career Then she worried about her children’s love Then she worries about her children’s nuptials Then she worries about her children’s children Then she worries about her children’s happiness Then she worries about her children’s worries Then she worries about her children’s fears Then she worries about her children’s trials Then she worries about her children’s finances Then she worries about her children’s despair Then she worries about her children’s hopes Then she worries about her children’s choices Then she worries about her children’s decisions Then she worries about her children’s desires Then she worries about her children’s weaknesses Then she worries about her children’s successes Then she worries about her children’s heart-aches Then she worries about her children’s mistakes Then she worries about her children’s thoughts Then she worries about her children’s words Then she worries about her children’s deeds Then she worries about her children’s attitude Then she worries about her children’s aptitude Then she worries about her children’s behavior Then she worries about her children’s creativity Then she worries about her children’s style Then she worries about her children’s views Then she worries about her children’s opinions Then she worries about her children’s perspectives Then she worries about her children’s questions Then she worries about her children’s answers Then she worries about her children’s society Then she worries if her children will turn out okay Then she worries about her children’s destiny Then she worries about her children’s legacy
And all this knowing full well That worry will not change anything That worry will not make a difference That worry will not really help And yet she embraces worry with open arms And lets worry rule her life… Till the very end.
I can’t help but wonder why MUMMIES and WORRIES are so intrinsically and intricately linked? I don’t have the answers.. But would like to hear your views!
