Cloud computing in India remains male dominated as a tech field, but a few amazing spirited women are making a name for themselves in it.
Cloud computing in India is a vibrant field that is just taking off, the industry is bursting with new tech, and innovation in all areas. Although cloud computing in India remains male dominated, as most tech fields still are, we did find a handful of amazing spirited women making a name for themselves in the industry.
Here we celebrate the trailblazers paving the way for other women interested in cloud computing in India.
Chaitra Vedullapalli calls herself a curious entrepreneur who is passionate about creating economic opportunities for women. She is the co-founder and CMO of Meylah, helping clients modernise their business with cloud solutions. She is also the cofounder of Women in Cloud, a community led economic development organisation for women entrepreneurs and professionals.
She did her engineering and expected to get married off having a traditional family, but her husband empowered and supported her to pursue a corporate career where she worked for about 20 years in companies like Microsoft and Oracle. She then decided to change track and took a leap in the world of entrepreneurship.
Chaitra decided to build a tech solutions company, but faced a lot of challenges. Conquering the tech world is still an uphill climb for women, from getting the right funding, to finding the right networks, and support. Chaitra faced many barriers and biases along the way, but it didn’t hold her back from building her company on her terms. She decided to found Women in Cloud with some friends and colleagues to help support women expand what they can do in the IT and digital space.
Chaitra is a mother of two, married for 27 years, and has dedicated her life to the field of IT and computer science. Known for being bold, tenacious, reliable, trustworthy and for not taking no for answer, Chaitra the eternal optimist gets things done. With her warm, friendly demeanour she loves to create systems for transformation, using the power of AI, Cloud, and IoT. Chaitra is fiercely committed to empowering business owners, especially women entrepreneurs with help of Coud, IoT and AI!
Apart from being a fierce champion of women IT entrepreneurs Chaitra sits on the board of several companies including Microsoft, Forbes Technology Council among others.

This quote posted on Rekha Rao-Mayya’s LinkedIn profile sums up her view on life and having a purpose to build a better tomorrow.
Rekha likes implementing big ideas as Country Leader (ISVs and Digital Native Businesses) at Amazon Web Services. Armed with an engineering degree in Computer Science from University of Pune, Rekha started out at Microsoft where she spent six years in various senior positions. She is known to have a problem solving mind, a collaborative spirit and is passionate about solving big business challenges.
Her advice to women entering the field of cloud computing in India and globally is to is to remain curious and to keep learning as it has always worked for her. She believes it is never too late to learn something new and to keep abreast of the latest technology in the cloud industry which is ever changing.
Rekha is community driven and believes in giving back to society. She finds joy in supporting STEM education for girls and nurturing women in technology through various initiatives. Rekha remains thankful for all the opportunities she has been blessed with benign an immigrant, visible minority and technical woman living in Toronto, Canada. A devout Sikh, every Sunday immerses herself in her prayers and langar seva (meal service) to serve her community.
Sonia Singh is a go getter and an accomplished senior sales manager with over 17 years of account management, business development and training experience. She is currently with Amazon Web Services as Director of Sales- ISV/DNB Amazon Web Services.
Before getting into the world of technology Sonia worked as an educator in the world of finance before stepping into the world of technology. She liked teaching and travelling and had no desire to enter the tech sector but over time had an itch to change it up and switch careers to something more exciting. She wanted to enter a field which had a lot of growth opportunities and where she could transfer her skills easily. With the help of a mentor, Sonia zeroed in on the world of tech and she never looked back.
Her advice to young women wanting to enter the world of cloud computing is to have patience, perseverance and a sense of purpose. She encourages young girls to not give up when faced with challenges in the industry of which there are many and to find a mentor and build a support system.
Satyavathi Divadari has spent more than two decades in IT and cybersecurity and cloud computing in India. She is the Head of Enterprise Security Architecture and CyberRes Cloud CTO at Micro Focus.
She has had leadership positions in Wells Fargo as Vice President – Information Security Risk Management, Cognizant, Director of Cybersecurity, Capgemini as Enterprise Security Architect, and Head of Risk Assurance.
Satyavathi lives with a large family in Bangalore including her husband and sons, in laws and is passionate about her job and providing end to end security solutions.
She started out as an engineering student encouraged by her father, and later in her career discovered she was passionate about Mtech as well and went on to do her Masters in Technology from BITS Pilani.
A straight speaking, hard working professional Satyavathi is a cybersecurity wizard and an inspiration to women in the cloud computing industry.
Rani Borkar is the corporate vice president for Azure hardware systems and infrastructure at Microsoft. Borkar oversees the key groups responsible for developing Microsoft’s premier cloud computing platform, from silicon to systems to the supply chain.
Rani believes in empowering people with technologies that can have a positive impact on their lives. She is dedicated to providing end to end solutions to help clients run successful businesses. Rani is passionate about building strong, close knit working communities to solve problems and create great technology.
Currently, she serves on the board for Applied Materials and the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), and as the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Oregon State University. Prior to joining Microsoft, she served as the Vice President of OpenPOWER Development at IBM. Her career journey in the world of tech began at Intel where she spent more than two decades, in various senior leadership positions.
Even while being a very busy career woman, Rani believes in striking a balance in life. A balance between family, work, friends and the community she lives in and she believes that it takes a village to make it through life. During the pandemic Rani made sure to check up on her friends and colleagues everyday to make sure everyone was doing okay. To her, a thriving community is the most important gift in life and that just a small gesture of care can go a long way.
Jyothi Salibindla is a senior solutions architect at Snowflake, a cloud computing based data storage company headquartered in Montana, USA.
Jyothi has been a passionate cloud architect with over 18 years of experience in various roles such as design, development, and delivery of large-scale complex applications in Federal Government, Telecom & Insurance domains.
Jyothi is known by her colleagues for being a strong developer, and an independent worker, open to exploring new methods to solve design and development challenges. Jyothi with her strong work ethic and sharp cloud computing skills has been highly successful in creating strategy, architecting solutions, and applying technology innovations in building robust platforms delivering current and future business goals.
Manisha Sule is an award winning director of software engineering at SAP Concur.
A bubbly personality, Manisha believes in using technology to provide optimal customer solutions. Her specialities include Software & Data Engineering, Advanced Analytics, and Cloud implementations.
Manisha has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Mumbai University and a Masters in Computer Science from the University of North Texas. Manisha prefers to be behind the scenes and is responsible for leading the development of an integrated data vision and platform as the director of Big Data Analytics at Linux Academy.
Rupal Shirpurkar is the Business Head at Click2Cloud, a company that leads global relationships with Microsoft, Azure, Huawei, Alibaba Cloud, and SoftBank Cloud. She is also the MVP at Alibaba Cloud and works for The Linux Foundation.
An outreach lead at Centaurus, a NextGen 5G cloud and SODA Foundation community, Shirpurkar is an expert in cloud assessment and cloud management solutions.
An engineering graduate from Nagpur University, Rupal worked at Microsoft for three years before joining Click2Cloud and is passionate about promoting open source communities.
