Women’s Web is saying Goodbye! Please make sure you read this important notification.
The writer encapsulates in sparse verse what the experience of being a woman is, especially in India where they are often without a voice.
I am a woman.
I am an untouchable
My thoughts are neglected,
My ideas are ignored,
My voice, silenced
My body, trampled over.
As I stand facing the world,
My voice is muffled by the speech of the powerful,
I stand yelling into nothingness,
I wake up
And understand that it is but my dream to talk, to express.
