“Design is not just about aesthetics, it is also about problem solving”, says Rashmi Singh, Founder of Studio Moya.
With a diploma in fashion design from NIFD, Patna, and with a post graduation in Design and merchandising from NID, Ahmedabad, ‘the girl from Patna’ has surely come a long way indeed!
After having left her steady job as an assistant design manager for Madura Garments, Bangalore, Rashmi took the plunge into pursuing what she loved – Art and design. She moved around the country as a part of Dee’s craft clusters group to get acquainted with the myriad arts and craft across the country.
It is during these trips she realized, how along the assembly line beginning from the raw material in the hands of an artisan to the finished product was amazing and yet, the finished product was substandard. The idea of Studio Moya was born at this time.
Rashmi’s mission was to bring skills and design together thereby, churning out a beautiful blend of tradition and contemporary. The motto of this beautiful design platform – Studio Moya is to embrace innovation with art.
Moya means ‘great’ in Irish. And, true to its name, Studio Moya has a great way of connecting with its clients and customers. As per Rashmi, every product a consumer buys is an extension of himself or herself, a conversation starter that tells a story about the individual.
The purpose of customising art has been achieved by roping in customers and clients by knowing what they want before they are shown a plethora of designs to select from. Rashmi strongly believes that, by bringing the craft and the crafter together, this nascent evolution shall kick start a revolution in the world of art.
Built on a sustainable business model, Studio Moya has come a long way and, is all set to bring the beautiful world of art in every home in India. Through this venture, the artisans get an opportunity at running their small business wherein, the sentiment of passing the age old art and culture has been duly preserved.
The artisans also get the necessary support like supply of tools and machinery to help them complete the deliverable on time.
As a part of Breaking Barriers, Rashmi Singh has proved that nothing is impossible if the flame of passion burns brighter with every passing day. When a dream becomes a vision and, when that vision takes the form of reality, nothing can indeed stop an individual from meeting success.
