Nominate For The 2nd Annual International Women’s Day Award Function

Women’s Web is happy to announce the 2nd Annual International Women’s Day award function by the Delhi Commission for Women. Nominations are open.

The Delhi Commission for Women on the occasion of the International Women’s Day will host its 2nd annual International Women’s Day award function on 8th March. The Commission will honour those individuals who have rendered support and have displayed extraordinary courage and commitment towards the cause of women.

The International Women’s Day Awards nomination process has begun. Anyone can nominate such persons for the Award who impacted the lives of women and girls. The last date to send in the nominations is 20th February 2017.

The same can be submitted to DCW office or on the website. The DCW is also writing letters to Government Departments, Police and NGOs seeking nominations for the award. The awards will be selected through a selection process and shall be given in a ceremony by dignitaries of Centre and State.

The Commission had given 25 awards last year to men, women, children and police as well as government officers. For instance, last year an award was given to an auto driver who had rescued a 16 year old girl; a lady who had single handedly prevented a mob burning down a petrol pump in Jat agitation in Haryana; Investigation Officer of Uber rape case who ensured conviction in an year; father of a victim of trafficking who ensured rescue of the girl from a brothel in GB Road; an SI from Jharkhand who had caught several traffickers; a young girl child who had prevented the rape of a 16 year old by raising alarm; parents of IAS topper Ira Singhal who didn’t let her physical disability quell her spirits and many more.

The award ceremony was attended by Smt Maneka Gandhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Shri Manish Sisodia, cabinet ministers of Delhi Government as well as representatives of media, judiciary, government officers, authors and corporate. The Commission this year will also award individuals of similar nomenclature. The awardees will be given shields, certificate and cash prizes.

Estate, New Delhi-110002. Supporting documents for the online applications can be either sent by post on the above address of mailed at [email protected].

The last date to send in the nominations is 20th February 2017.
