Every Women's Day we are inundated with a deluge of patronising 'happy women's day' messages glorifying the 'Indian woman'. This is deeply damaging to us.
“All the pain and trauma will vanish as soon as you see the baby’s face,” women are told. Thus, the entire traumatic vaginal delivery event is sugar coated, overly romanticised.
I know that by giving my daughters in law the freedom to choose, while we all be there for each other in times of need - I also make myself free and respectful.
