Growing up, I don’t remember a lot of love being showered, but a series of rules being preached — don’t talk too much or too loudly, don’t laugh out hard! My grandmother was strict!

There were few cliché statements which we women have been hearing from our elders in the family. And these statements somehow managed to create a rooted space in our thoughts.

Rules are not made by elders but made by everyone depending on their needs. Some of these rules make living together easy and comfortable.

The moment they get down, the girl goes running towards the old man. He reciprocates her enthusiasm by lifting her up in the air. In no time she is atop her grandpa's shoulder.

Three women who loved me, and showed their love openly, whom I lost too early. They've left behind only memories, which I must put down.
