Silencing and stigmatisation of menopause can only make individuals reluctant to talk openly about their symptoms or seek help, leading to feelings of isolation and frustration.
Just as women do not talk about their periods to their husbands, they don't share about menopause and usually suffer alone. Unless a medical issue presents itself; and by then any preventive or therapeutic medicine or treatment is already late.
I realize that the need of the hour is to educate and generate awareness about perimenopause and menopause. For some women, depending on their genetics, it can last as long as ten years, followed by menopause.
As soon as I turned 40, there was a change in my body and mind. My perimenopause started with mood swings, hot flushes and pain!
