Being a woman, I usually never get to express my rage as openly as men do with impunity, as most women fear retribution or worse, being tagged ‘unlikeable’.

I was astonished. A female doctor had me feel uncomfortable, unworthy, and deficient. However, here, a male doctor made me feel safe and comfortable. I felt treated with dignity and not reduced to some baby-making machine.

The only time a woman’s choices are validated is when they are in accordance with patriarchal expectations. Otherwise she is told she MUST ignore her inner voice telling her what she really wants.
